Niagara Falls may have made headlines last week after extremely low temperatures caused it to freeze, but beginning this Friday, March 6, the place will be heating with great poker action as the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge kicks off at Seneca Poker Niagara Falls.

The series of tournaments, which will run through March 15 and offer buy-ins ranging from $50-$1,000, will kick off at 11 a.m. on Friday with Event #1: $200 No-Limit Hold'em, a tournament that will start players with 15,000 in starting chips and offer 30-minute levels.

The first five events of the series will be held in the Seneca Niagara Poker Room, meaning participants need to be 21 years old to play, but beginning with Event #6: $200 No-Limit Hold'em action will be moved to the hotel balcony. As such, that event as well as Event #7: $1,000 Main Event and Event #8: $200 NLHE will be open to players 18 years old and up. Likewise, satellites held on the hotel balcony are open to those 18-plus.

Speaking of the $1,000 buy-in, $200,000 guaranteed Main Event, which attracted 183 entries last year and saw Nick Walker walk away with the $37,061 top prize, that tournament will take place from March 13-15 and of course the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on the floor providing live updates, chip counts, photos and more from each tournament.

We will also be activating the MyStack App for all events, allowing players to directly update their chip counts in the PokerNews Blog using their iPhone or Android phone. Learn more and download the MyStack App for free by clicking here.

'PokerNews is very happy to be working together with Seneca Gaming and Entertainment for live coverage of this year's Western New York Poker Challenge. We'll be providing coverage of eight feature events,' said PokerNews Editor-in-Chief Donnie Peters. 'This includes the highly-anticipated $1,000 Main Event, which grew from 2013 to 2014 and will likely see another bump in attendance as the event boasts a $200,000 guarantee. Furthermore, it’s great to see that a few of the tournaments, including the Main Event, are 18-plus events, allowing some younger players to get a chance at igniting their poker careers. PokerNews very much looks forward to this stop, and you should, too.'

Finally, another tournament on the schedule that is not to be missed is Event #5: $50 NLHE ($25,000 Guaranteed). That tournament will offer six starting flights and allow for late registration and unlimited reentries for the first 12 levels. Players are allowed to play in more than one flight. Any player that survives more than one flight will only be able to take their largest finishing stack forward into Day 2.
